What we Believe
Simply put, we believe in the Bible. We believe Jesus is Lord and that all His creation has value and purpose. Our mission is to serve God by serving His people, giving Him glory, and magnifying His name. We seek to love the people of LWR and surrounding areas in a way that resembles God’s love for us. The Gateway is not a country club where we expect God to wait on us, but a missional community called to reach people for Christ and bring them into His family.
The Gateway Purpose: Catch, Grow, and Go
Catch–To bring people to Jesus Christ and membership in His family. To Grow–To develop them to Christian maturity. To Go—To equip them for their ministry in the church and their mission in the world, in order to magnify God’s name.
The Great Commandment
Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets stand on these two commandments.”
The Great Commission
Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. “
The Lord’s Prayer
Jesus said to pray, “Thy Kingdom come and Thy will to be done on Earth, as it is in heaven.”
Purpose of the Church
We believe being committed to worship, fellowship, service, evangelism, and discipleship we will help reveal God’s Kingdom on earth. We live these beliefs out by gathering on Sundays and weekly in our Life Groups.
The Bible is the inspired word of God (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
God eternally exists as the perfect love of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1-26; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1-2; 4:24; Acts 5:3-4; Romans 1:20; Ephesians 4:5-6; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
Jesus is fully God and fully man. He came to earth, was conceived in the Virgin Mary and lived a sinless life. He died and rose again to reconcile all people to God and to free them from the power of sin and the devil. He will return someday and consummate the building of his Kingdom (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38; Romans 9:5; Titus 2:13).
The fall of humanity
All people are sinners and need to have a saving relationship with God. People are made children of God when they repent of their sin, place their trust in Jesus Christ and commit their life to him (Genesis 1:26-27; 3:1-24; Romans 3:25; 5:12-18; 1 John 1:8).
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit continually draws believers closer to God, transforms them into the image of Jesus Christ, empowers them for ministry and distributes spiritual gifts to the Church. Believers are to always seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit. (John 16:5-15; Romans 8:16, 23, 26, 27; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31)
Baptism and Communion.
Baptism and Communion are two sacraments the Lord has given directly to the Church. Baptism is the full inclusion into the life of the God’s family. We celebrate communion the first Sunday of every month. We also believe in the sacraments of Confirmation, Marriage, Reconciliation, Healing, and Ordination. (Baptism: Acts 2:38-41; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 8:26-40; 10:47; 18:8; Romans 6:3-4. Communion: Acts 2:42-46; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29)
The Universal and Apostolic Church
Though it has multitudes of diverse expressions, there is only one Universal Church of Jesus Christ. It consists of all who have a relationship with Jesus Christ. The primary purpose of the Church is to use every possible means to advance the Kingdom of God against the kingdom of Satan. (Romans 12:4-6; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6; Ephesians 2:19-22; 4:12-16; Hebrews 10:24-25)
